11.11 and Black Friday 2026: dates, and how not to lose out on your card

The dates

Sale Date
11.11 Wednesday 11 November 2026
Black Friday Friday 27 November 2026
Cyber Monday Monday 30 November 2026
12.12 Saturday 12 December 2026

Five ways your card can cost you

1. Hitting the cashback cap in one month. Most cashback cards cap bonus rebates per month. If 11.11 and Black Friday both land in November, you may blow past the cap and earn the base rate on the rest. Move some purchases to 12.12, which falls in December.

2. Missing the minimum spend. Many cards only pay the bonus rate if you spend a minimum amount in the month. Check that your total, not just one big order, gets you there.

3. Foreign currency fees. Paying in USD or another currency on overseas sites usually adds about 3% in fees. If the site offers to charge you in SGD, that “conversion” can be even worse. A card or app with low foreign currency fees is better for overseas shops.

4. GST still applies. Since 2023, GST is charged on most low-value goods bought online from overseas sellers. Compare final prices, not sticker prices.

5. Wrong category. A card that pays bonus on “online shopping” may not count every marketplace or payment method. Check the card’s terms for excluded merchants and wallets.

A new card for the sales?

Big sale purchases can help you hit a new card’s minimum spend, if you were going to buy those things anyway. Work out whether the welcome gift is worth it first.
