Questions

Why is my CPF lower in my first two years as a PR?

New PRs pay graduated rates. If you are 55 or younger, you pay 5% and your employer 4% in the first year, then 15% and 9% in the second year. From the third year you pay the same rates as citizens. You and your employer can jointly apply to the CPF Board to pay higher rates earlier.

Why does my CPF stop growing above $8,000?

CPF is only charged on the first $8,000 of monthly salary (the 2026 ceiling). Salary above that is paid to you in full.

Does employer CPF come out of my salary?

No. Your employer pays it on top of your salary, straight into your CPF accounts.

Do foreigners pay CPF?

No. Employment Pass and S Pass holders don’t pay CPF, so their take-home pay is their full salary before tax.
