Questions
What return should I use?
Use what your money actually earns: about 2.5% in CPF OA, 4% in SA, less in most savings accounts after the bonus caps. For stock investments, 4–6% a year over the long run is a common cautious guess.
Why does time matter so much?
Interest earns interest. The longer you leave it, the larger the share of your money that comes from returns rather than from what you put in.
