ABSD: Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty
An extra stamp duty on top of BSD, set by who you are and how many homes you already own. Foreigners pay 60%.
ABSD is a stamp duty paid on top of the normal buyer’s stamp duty (BSD). It is meant to cool demand for second homes and from foreign buyers, so the rate depends on who is buying and how many residential properties they already own.
| Buyer | 1st home | 2nd home | 3rd and later |
|---|---|---|---|
| Singapore citizen | 0% | 20% | 30% |
| PR | 5% | 30% | 35% |
| Foreigner | 60% | 60% | 60% |
Rates from 27 Apr 2023. ABSD is charged on the price (or market value, if higher) and is due within 14 days of signing, along with BSD. Couples and some buyers can get a remission in specific cases; check IRAS before you sign.
